Service Overview

Sized to your actual usage. Not your roof.

Most solar quotes start with how much roof you have. We start with 12 months of your power bills. The right system size is whatever offsets your real annual usage with a 10-15 percent margin, not whatever maxes out your south-facing slope.

A residential solar install is three coordinated systems: the array itself (panels, racking, conduit), the inverter system (string or microinverter, sometimes with hybrid-battery), and the utility interconnect (production meter, disconnect, paperwork with TVA-LPC). Each one has its own code, inspection, and timeline.

We pull your 12-month usage from the utility, run a load calc, and quote a system that offsets between 90 and 105 percent of your annual draw. Oversize 110+ percent and you produce power you sell back at wholesale rates — bad math in TVA territory. Undersize and you keep paying the utility for the gap.

We install string inverters (SolarEdge, SMA, Fronius) for simple south-facing roofs, microinverters (Enphase) for split-roof or shaded sites, and hybrid-battery inverters (Enphase IQ, SolarEdge EnergyHub) when battery backup is part of the scope. Every install includes the monitoring app set up on your phone before we leave the driveway.

What’s Included

Real solar. Real permits.

12-month usage analysis

We pull your power bills before the quote, not after. Sizing the system on real usage avoids overbuild and undersizing — both wasteful in TVA net-metering territory.

Roof structural assessment

Rafter sizing, span, and condition matter. We walk the attic, photograph the rafters, and confirm the roof can carry the load before we sell you the array. If the roof needs reinforcement or replacement first, we say so.

String, micro, or hybrid inverter

String inverter for simple roofs (cheapest per watt). Microinverter for split-pitch or partial shade (per-panel optimization). Hybrid inverter when batteries are in scope — Enphase IQ or SolarEdge EnergyHub.

TVA-LPC interconnect paperwork

Net-metering application, interconnect agreement, production meter coordination — all handled. Your local TVA distributor (KUB, Sevier County Electric, etc.) has specific requirements; we know each one.

Battery-ready installs

Even if battery isn’t in this phase, we can install a hybrid inverter and pre-wire for a future Enphase IQ Battery or Tesla Powerwall add-on. Avoids ripping out the inverter later.

Monitoring + handoff

Enphase Enlighten, SolarEdge mySolarEdge, or whichever platform matches your inverter brand. Set up on your phone, walked-through, and you see daily production from day one.

How We Run This Job

Five steps. No surprise invoices.

Step 01

Text or call us first

Describe the job. We follow up with a phone chat to scope it, then we send your quote. Same-day for most residential.

Step 02

On-site walk-through

For larger jobs, we come out, look at the panel, and talk through what you actually want. Free. No “let me get back to you.”

Step 03

Itemized estimate

Every line item priced. Materials, labor, permit, inspection. You see exactly where the dollars go before you sign anything.

Step 04

Job day · permits handled

We pull permits, coordinate with the county inspector, and arrive when we said we would. We protect your floors. We label every breaker. We test every circuit before we leave.

Step 05

Inspection & sign-off

Inspector signs off, we walk you through what changed, we hand over the documentation. If anything ever flickers, you have our cell.

Residential solar panel installation in East Tennessee

We had two solar companies quote us before Volt Pro. Both wanted to install 14kW based on the roof. Volt Pro pulled our actual bills, said 8.4kW was the right size for our usage, and saved us almost $20,000 vs the bigger systems. Working as intended a year in.

Common Questions

Five things we get asked every week.

Does residential solar make sense in East Tennessee?
Yes if your home faces south, southeast, or southwest with minimal shading and your annual usage is over 10,000 kWh. TVA net-metering credits at retail rates up to your annual usage, so the math is best when the system offsets 90-105 percent of what you actually use. We size against your 12-month usage, not your roof area.
What does residential solar cost?
Installed cost in our region runs $2.50 to $3.50 per watt before the 30 percent federal tax credit. A typical 8kW system is $20,000 to $28,000 gross / $14,000 to $19,600 net of the credit. We itemize every line: panels, inverter, racking, labor, permit, interconnect.
Do I need battery backup?
Not for offsetting the bill — net-metering does that without batteries. Batteries make sense if you want power during outages or you’re on a utility that doesn’t fully credit exported energy. We install Enphase IQ Battery and Tesla Powerwall, and we can pre-wire a battery-ready system if you want it phased.
How long does a solar install take?
On-site work is 2-4 days for typical residential. The longer timeline is permit + interconnect: TVA-LPC paperwork, county permits, structural review, and utility scheduling typically run 6-12 weeks from contract to power-on. We file everything; you don’t make calls.
Do you handle the TVA interconnect paperwork?
Yes. We file the net-metering application with your TVA-LPC (KUB, Sevier County Electric Co-op, Loudon Utilities, etc.), coordinate the production meter swap, and walk the interconnect inspection. Every local distributor has slightly different forms — we know them.
