Service Overview

A 30-minute load calc, an honest size.

Generators in our region are usually oversized or undersized. Oversized wastes money. Undersized trips out under load. The right size for your home depends on the actual loads you want to keep running — and a real load calc takes 30 minutes on site.

For a typical 3,000 sq ft home running essentials only (HVAC, fridge, freezer, lights, internet, basic outlets), an 18kW Generac is usually right. If you want the entire home running including the heat pump, electric range, and well pump, you’re looking at 22kW or 24kW. If you have a primary cabin in the Smokies with electric heat as the only heat source, 26kW.

The full sizing calc looks at your panel, your major appliances, and your usage pattern. We size the smallest unit that does the job. Then we install with proper natural-gas or LP supply, a hard-wired transfer switch, and a tested startup sequence.

We’re factory-trained and authorized for the full Generac residential lineup — Guardian 7kW through 26kW air-cooled, plus Protector liquid-cooled for larger commercial loads. Annual service contracts are included on every install for the first year.

Common Questions

Five things we get asked every week.

How big a generator do I need for a 3,000 sq ft home?
For essentials only (HVAC, fridge, freezer, lights, internet, basic outlets), a Generac 18kW is usually right. Whole-home including heat pump and electric range is 22kW-24kW. The full sizing calc takes 30 minutes on site — we look at your panel, your major appliances, and your usage pattern. Oversizing wastes money; undersizing trips out under load.
How much does a whole-home generator install cost?
In East Tennessee, $8,000 to $15,000 for a typical Generac residential install. The variables are unit size (7kW vs 26kW is a $4,000+ swing in hardware), gas line distance and tap requirements, transfer switch type, and concrete pad work. We itemize all of it before you sign.
Natural gas or LP propane?
Either works. Natural gas is cheaper if you have a service line at the house. LP is the only option for many Smokies cabins and rural Sevier County homes. LP installs require coordination with your propane supplier on tank size and regulator. We handle that conversation.
How long does a generator install take?
Most residential installs are 1-2 days on site, plus 4-6 weeks lead time on the hardware itself. We pre-coordinate the gas utility tap, the concrete pad, and the inspection so the actual on-site work is two consecutive days — one for set + electrical, one for gas + startup.
Do you offer service contracts?
Yes. First year of annual service is included on every Generac install — oil change, filter swap, exercise cycle test, transfer switch test. Most warranty claims trace back to skipped maintenance. After year one, annual contracts are around $300 per visit.
