We look at how you actually park, which side the port is on, and whether a second EV is coming. My panel is on the far corner of the house from the garage. Does that matter?
It changes the wire, not the answer. Longer runs mean voltage drop, and past a certain distance we step the conductor up a size to keep the charger delivering full current. On a larger Farragut house that can mean 100 feet or more of conduit through the crawlspace or attic. We measure the real route on the visit, because guessing at it is how installers end up eating the difference or cutting corners.
Can I add a charger with a heat pump and a hot tub already on the service?
Often yes, with an NEC 220 load calculation to prove it. If the numbers are tight we can set the charger to a lower continuous amperage or use a load-managing model that backs off automatically when the rest of the house pulls hard. If the calculation says the service genuinely will not carry it, we say so and talk about a panel upgrade instead of quietly overloading the panel.
