A fixture is the easy part.
Most contractors will hang a chandelier. Far fewer will engineer a 24-pound crystal ring into a 22-foot cathedral ceiling, weather-rate a deck linear in a humid mountain climate, or wire a backlit-onyx pool surround to color-tunable LED drivers. That’s the work we like.
Custom lighting splits into three buckets: indoor architectural (chandeliers, pendants, recessed, cove, accent), outdoor functional (motion, security, walkway, driveway), and outdoor decorative (deck, pool, landscape, path). Each has different code requirements, weather ratings, and installation techniques.
For indoor work, structural engineering matters as much as the wiring. A two-tier crystal ring chandelier weighs 30+ pounds and needs a UL-rated junction box rated for the full weight, often with additional blocking added in the joist bay above. We do that work as part of the install — not “you call a framer first then call us.”
For outdoor work, weather rating and wire protection are the difference between a fixture that lasts five years and one that lasts twenty. We use UL-listed wet-location fixtures for any direct-rain location, and we run dedicated low-voltage transformers with proper conduit for landscape and path runs.

Motion-activated security, dusk-to-dawn coach lights, photocell-controlled walkway, code-compliant driveway and address-marker lighting.
Landscape low-voltage
Path lights, uplights, downlights, well lights. Dedicated low-voltage transformer, proper wire gauge, smart-controller integration if you want app control.
Pool, hot tub, deck
Wet-location-rated underwater LED, color-tunable RGBW for backlit features, deck-rope and step lighting, weatherproof junction boxes.
Smart-home integration
Lutron Caseta, Lutron RA2 Select, Leviton Decora Smart, dimmer-by-fixture installs. Scenes, schedules, and voice control if you want it.
Mountain & cabin specialty
Lots of vacation-rental cabins want timer-controlled exterior lighting that runs dusk-to-dawn without owner intervention. We design that around your specific use case.
